Why Cape Town?Cape Town is a first class filming destination, located at the tip of the African continent. In 2004 it was chosen as the Best City in Africa and one of the world’s top 8 creative cities by Newsweek in 2002. Cape Town and the Western Cape have extremely successful film, advertising and fashion industries with the summer season falling conveniently during the European winter. Warm welcoming people, a rich diversity of arts, culture, music, a buzzing night-life, excellent wines and superb cuisine all contribute to making the Cape an awe-inspiring destination.
Locations Blessed with outstanding natural beauty and some of the most magnificent scenery, imaginable, it’s not hard to see why Cape Town and the Western Cape have been described as “heaven at the tip of Africa”. Locations include mountains, rivers, lakes, fields, beaches and cityscapes of every description. The friendly Film Office assists with filming permits in the city free of charge and there are many private location companies that specialize in locations as diverse as private houses or nature reserves.
Value for money The Western Cape and Cape Town in particular are recognized internationally as one of the most outstanding value-for-money shooting destinations in the world. The professionalism of the technical crews is unrivaled outside the US or UK and we can provide services to suit every pocket. No matter the cost, you will always get the best personnel, equipment and locations.
Superb Range of Accommodation. There are more than 16,000 rooms within a 30 minute radius of the city centre. All categories of accommodation are represented, ranging from five-star hotels with commanding views of the city and the sea, to quiet boutique hotels and traditional guest houses. Most options have wireless internet to facilitate internet communications and of course, who could resist a cool swim at the end of a hot day in the trenches.
Easy Access Cape Town International Airport is served by 20 international airlines, linking the city to global hubs including London, Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Atlanta and Singapore. In the same time zone as Europe, Cape Town is a direct overnight flight (12 hours) from many European cities. Once in the Cape, getting around is simple and convenient - Two Seas TV will collect you from the airport with a dedicated driver who will stay with you throughout your trip.
Ideal Climate The Cape has a mild Mediterranean climate all year round. Summer stretches from October to March and producers can revel in 11 hours of sunshine daily and the balmiest of evenings. Autumn sunsets are legendary in the Cape and winters are usually mild with a fair amount of rain. Spring brings out the wild flowers and the annual migration of whales to our oceans and lasts until the end of September when the commercial filming season starts in earnest.
